The Glenridge Senior Citizen Multi-Service and Advisory Center Inc. is the sponsor of the Glenridge Senior Center, a program serving the senior population in CD #5 of Queens. These services include: congregate meals; meals-on-wheels; case assistance; information and referral; recreation/educational; nutrition; telephone reassurance; health promotion and screening and friendly visiting programs.

The funding source for The Glenridge Senior citizen Multi-service and Advisory Center Inc. is from the State Office for the Aging, New York City Department for the Aging and City Meals on Wheels, private and member contributions.

In the early seventies, older adults and civic leaders residing in the Ridgewood and Glendale areas of Southwestern Queens organized the Glenwood Association to address some concerns:

1. How to keep seniors in the neighborhood.
and
2. How to provide for the seniors' needs.

The Glenwood Association set out to establish a non-profit organization to be a multi-purpose and multi-service organization to meet the needs of the local seniors and to keep them a vital part of the community.

The Glenridge Senior Citizen Multi-Service and Advisory Center, Inc. was incorporated in August, 1973 as a not-for-profit corporation under the corporation laws of the State of New York. Working closely with Community District #5 manager and other representative in the district, a proposal was submitted to the Human Resources Administration of New York City to create a senior citizen center.

The proposal was approved and the program was launched in April, 1974 when a Center Director and Bookkeeper were hired. Operations began in July, 1974 in a 10,000 square foot space in the Victorian House building (67-16 Myrtle Avenue, 11385, a former catering house) in the Glendale area.

In 1978, Glenridge found a new site to meet its expanding needs. On March 1, 1978, Glenridge moved into its present site, 59-03 Summerfield Street, Ridgewood, Queens, New York 11385. The building is centrally located in the community with easy access to public transportation and shopping.
